Ramsgate is a giant enclosed marina built out of stone. When you’re walking along the outer edge of it, it feels as if you’re inside the moat of a giant castle, with the world outside of you completely blocked from view. Even despite this protective surrounding, when we woke this morning we knew it was windy. So much so that small wavelets were forming within the marina walls.
Being the optimists we are, we packed our gear and set off out the protective enclosure of this marina fortress. We only made it as far as Broadstairs, approximately 3 miles along the coast, before we took the executive decision that it was too rough to attempt any kiting. With the waves as they were we would have been able to launch, but in 3 hours time, it would be wind against tide and the waves would be growing. Any much more and it wouldn’t be safe to launch the dingy. Without having a rescue boat available, none of us felt comfortable with attempting to kite today. So we soon turned around, back to our safe cocoon within Ramsgate.

Although no miles were gained today, us being stationary made it easy for Jeremy to find us. Our final crew member flew in from Texas today after successfully completing all of his exams (Congrats!).
